Bio

Daria Pietryka graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Interior Design Department (MA in Fine Arts) in Wroclaw, and University College Dublin, School of Architecture(BSc – Architectural Science).  She is dealing with architecture and interiors on a daily basis. Painting is treated as a springboard, non-verbal way of communicating with the world. She is fascinated by the expression that might be set by the color – and communicates it in her works. Her paintings often depict man as a social being, sometimes a little lonesome.

‘I am fascinated with ambiguity. I aim for my painting to be multi-layered, both metaphorically and formally. I think this is the key to the balance I seek – between form and content. I take the inspiration from the people I meet and nature. When I paint I trasfer those situation into metaphores as I believe the meaning shouldn’t be literal. Art should be meaningful and thought-provoking, so I am happy when the viewer play along with their own interpretation. Then what is personal to me becomes, in a way, generally accessible through painting, and my work acquires layers (of meaning).’
