Bio

Gocha Meg Stankiewicz graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk in 1991, earning a degree from the Faculty of Architecture and Industrial Design. A painter, screenwriter, and interior architect, her multidisciplinary practice bridges the visual arts, film, and design.

She is the commissioner of the annual artists’ plein-air residencies at Uroczysko Zaborek and curator of the Master Weekends in Zaborek exhibition series. She is also the author of the children’s book series The Great Journey of Sebek and Zuzia and has collaborated as a screenwriter with animation studios including GS Animation, TV Studio of Animated Films in Poznań, Animapol, and Esy-Floresy. She wrote the screenplay for Hern, a film nominated in two categories at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival.

Stankiewicz has exhibited extensively in Poland and internationally. A recipient of numerous architectural awards and a scholarship from the Mayor of Gdańsk, she has also taught at her alma mater, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. She lives and works in Gdańsk.

Her paintings draw inspiration from the visual language of the Baroque and Rococo, reinterpreting the aesthetics of the Old Masters through a distinctly contemporary sensibility. By combining historical references with expressive colour, texture, and bold compositional interventions, she creates works that explore memory, identity, and the enduring dialogue between tradition and modernity.
