Bio
Malwina de Brade – born in 1968, is an artist, illustrator, and photographer. In 1988, she graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and in 1995 completed her studies at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She received her diploma under Professor Janusz Stanny, with an additional specialization in printmaking under Associate Professor Krzysztof Wyzner.
She works in book illustration, printmaking, photography, and animation, and collaborates on projects involving costume design, make-up, and scenography. She teaches at the Higher School of Art in Warsaw and serves as an editor for the magazine LiryDram. She is a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists (ZPAP), the photographic group Szare Dni, and the art collective Equitas Equitatum.
Malwina de Brade has participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Her works are held in private collections as well as institutional ones, including the Centre for Contemporary Art (CSW) and various art galleries. Her paintings are also regularly featured in auctions at leading art houses.
Since 2012, she has been organizing exhibitions at St. Praga. She was a member of the Fotoart Hybrydy photographic club and collaborated with the editorial team of Poeci Polscy as a photojournalist.
Her artistic style combines elements of magical realism, vivid color, and narrative symbolism. Nature, dreams, and archetypal stories are recurring themes in her work, forming a distinctive dialogue between painterly imagination and illustrative precision.
