Remembering Prof. Józef Hałas
January 7, marks the birthday of the renowned Wrocław-based artist and educator, Prof. Józef Hałas.
Born in 1927 in Nowy Sącz, his upbringing in the Beskid Mountains deeply influenced his perspective, which was reflected throughout his artistic legacy.
As a respected professor in the Wrocław academic community and an artist actively involved in significant artistic organizations, Józef Hałas became an icon of contemporary painting. In 2023, two of his paintings were added to the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
January is a time when we particularly remember Józef Hałas, as January 1 also marks the anniversary of his passing.
